Leading link front end
Permalink

I have been trying to get my V8 trike back on the road and am having front end problems... originally, it had a motorcycle front end . Made a slightly hard\sharp turn and the front end twisted and bent, replaced with 2 more motorcycle front ends . motorcycle front end will just not work....so.......I put a leading link together. New neck, the works...... here's the problem......I "assume" the link should be kinda level.....I trial fitted the shocks and the link drops down in the rear behind the tire. I thought the shocks would keep it level if I put the shocks in the right position. What am I doing wrong??? Maybe move the link a little more forward from the down tubes ?

I have a couple of pictures if that would help one of what it looked like with a motorcycle front end and a couple of what I have now...I am using a Fatboy wheel with a car tire which actually fit well and looks good

I like it but I have to work with what I have.....I think maybe I will change the pivot point and see if that makes a difference

Here is what I currently have to work with. I have removed the neck at this point and thinking of increasing the rake ...may do it or may not, depending on any advice I can get here.

I have so much weight on the front end I am leary of raking it much more than it now is. not sure how to get the trail right.

JUST SO YOU KNOW THE SHOCK MOUNTS ARE FOR TEST FIT, ITS ALL I COULD COME UP WITH AT THE MOMENT.

by looking at the pictures, do you think moving the piviot point will help any, and if I do, it changes the trail, which I figure is not near correct anyway, I think its neg trail already.

you need to bend the bars back and hook them up at the rear of the lower link and line the Shocks with springs up with the Neck. what you have there I do not see working at all.

It's still doable.i don't have the tubes welded to the lower tree yet. So once you set the rake, the bend appears to be vertical to the ground, correct, or does that matter as long as both are bent the same?

I Miss those times too. I was part of the Eastcoast trikein for over 20 years. or should I say it was a part of my life.. We are setting up something even bigger now. We are going to do a cross country run. for St Jude. and have car show every where we can. Asking anyone that want to ride with us to join up. going to try to make a stop at the triadic reunion . we will be starting in may so should be able to work it in.

Just make sure the bends are the same. and that the coil overs are lined up with the neck
